FAQ - Questions to post on your site to get started

We know that learners can have a lot of questions when they first join the platform, so we have put together a series of Frequently Asked Questions that will help you ensure your learners have the best opportunity to kick start their time on the platform.

Please feel free to use this to populate the FAQs section of the platform or use it as a PDF to share with learners when they first join. You can also find this list in the GE Support center if you ever need it again in the future.

The questions (in blue) and answers (in black) are certainly not an exhaustive list, and can be added to or tweaked to suit your needs. There may be elements that aren’t used or aren’t relevant, so please feel free to remove these as you see fit. Take a look:

LEARNING

Where can I access learning content?

There are 3 main places to access your learning content:

  1. My Things To Do (MTTD)- this is the first place to check out as it is where you will find all the learning your manager/administrator has assigned to you. You can find this via the main Dashboard Widget or by going to ‘My Learning’ on the side menu.

  1. Levels - Levels are a gamified pathway for you to see progress through the platform. Along with XP, there is likely to be content that you are required to complete in order to progress to the next level. You can access this via MTTD or via the icon at the top of the side menu.

  1. Library - this is where you will find ALL the content you have visibility of within the platform. This may be where your manager asks you to take a new course, or search for relevant up-skilling content. It is also the best place to come if you want to earn some extra XP and continue leveling up. You can find the library in the side menu.

How do I join a Classroom event?

Firstly, check MTTD as you may well have been invited to some by your manager, so enroll via the links there. Alternatively, if you want to see what live events are available to you, head to the Calendar in the side menu to see what you’ve been invited to and events you can enroll in.

What is a Curriculum?
A curriculum (Programme of Learning) is a series of different pieces of learning (eLearning, Videos, tests, quizzes, documents, etc) that are linked together to form a larger piece of content. It is structured in a clear order to guide the way you complete your learning, and will most likely give you the option to complete it over a longer period of time. If the structure is locked in a certain order, you may also receive email updates about when the next content is available to complete.
Once you complete a curriculum, you may also earn an Award and/or Certificate, if there is one assigned to that curriculum.

You can find the curriculum either as an invite in your MTTD, as contained within the level structure or simply as a course to enroll in via the Library.

How can I view content I’ve already completed?

If you want to review any of the content you have completed on the platform, head to ‘My Learning’ on the side menu and select Timeline. Here you can see a timeline of your completions, how successful you were, and the option to revisit the content.

In the My Learning section you can also see your My Things To Do, any content you have added to ‘Favourites’, any updates you've posted to the What’s Happening Wall, and any WHW posts you’ve liked.

GAMIFICATION

What are experience points and how do I earn them?

XP can be earned by completing different tasks on the platform. Firstly, we’d recommend completing some content, as this is where the big values can be earned. We would also suggest interacting on the social clubs, as you can earn for posting/commenting/liking in these areas! Finally, the more you explore the platform and earn achievements as a result, the more points you can earn.

How do I progress to the next level?

There are a few ways levels may be set up, and each requires a slightly different approach to progress your way through:

  1. Content only - some levels are set up so that ‘required’ content is the main obstacle for you to overcome to move to the next level. Complete all this, and you’re on your way!

  1. XP Only - some levels don’t have any ‘required’ content attached but have an XP total that you need to achieve to move on. To earn this XP you should explore the library, earn badges, and comment in clubs. The more you engage, the quicker you conquer the levels.

  1. Content and XP - some levels will be set up with a target of both, meaning you need to ensure that you complete all the ‘required’ content AND make sure you achieve the target points total to move on. You may need to explore the platform to earn XP, as it is no guarantee that just the content within the level will be enough.

It will be clear what is required for each level when you view your levels (either via MTTD or via the icon at the top of the side menu).
Once you have all the required elements covered, you’ll automatically be moved onto the next level.

How do I earn badges?

There are a few different types of badges you can earn, so take note:

  1. Badges - these are earned when you complete certain pieces of content. Not every piece of content will have a badge, so you’re best to get exploring in the library.

  1. Achievements - these can be earned for carrying out certain actions, such as changing a profile picture, posting on the What's Happening Wall, or completing your first curriculum (and much more). The more you explore the platform, the more you will achieve.

  1. Awards - these can be earned when you complete a curriculum (Programme of Learning) which is essentially a combination of content formed into a course. Awards are often more difficult to come by, and can also come with a Certificate, so definitely keep your eye out for these.

  1. Manager Badges - these can be awarded to you directly by your manager at their discretion, so can be for achieving certain performance standards, representing company values, or simply for being a team player. Speak to your manager or administrator if you’d like to know more.

If you’re a keen badge collector, we recommend heading to your badge cabinet on the dashboard to see what is on offer. If you hover over a badge, it will tell you what you need to do to achieve it.

SOCIAL

What is the What’s Happening Wall?

The What’s Happening Wall is the place to go for updates about what’s going on in the platform. It will tell you about what content your colleagues are completing, who is earning badges/achievements, as well as being a place for collaboration and discussion with the whole platform community. Chances are this is also the place you will see announcements and updates from your management teams too.
Why not try tagging a colleague on the WHW and getting the conversation started?

What are Clubs and why should I join/share?

Clubs are the ideal way to collaborate with colleagues and experts on all of your learning topics. You can ask questions and share expertise through pictures, video, text, links, and documents. These can then be liked and commented on. All social learning actions are gamified to encourage a knowledge-sharing culture, allowing you to earn experience points (XP) for posts, replies, and likes.

Keeping all of that knowledge in the same place as where you access your learning means you always have somewhere and someone to refer to for additional information that you may not be able to find in the content itself.

Head to the side menu to find the clubs page.

SUPPORT

If I have a problem, where can I get support?

If you require support, we recommend you head to the ‘Experts’ section in the side menu, and raise a question with one of the management/administrative team in there.

You may also want to gather feedback/support from other learners on the platform, in which case we recommend posting on the What's Happening Wall or in your Clubs.
