Four-Tier Hierarchy
Four-Tier Hierarchy
The four-tier hierarchy is about the learner and who they need to see. Every organisation is different in this respect.
Everyone sits within a single Team, i.e., a Learner can only be part of one team.
Every Team is associated with a Division, a Region and a Branch.
We ‘draw a line’ for visibility at some point in this hierarchy. This means wherever you choose learners will only see messages from people that branch from that aspect of the hierarchy.
The hierarchy establishes:
What you see on social feeds
Who you see on the leaderboard
Whose profiles you can view
Who you can report on (Manager Access)
Who you can invite to take content (Manager Access)
You can change the names of all of the levels within the Four-Tier Hierarchy to better match your organisation. For example, the region could be re-named county.
Making the decision on your four-tier hierarchy
How does your management structure work?
How important is the geographic location?
Are there product-relevant reasons to split users?
Are there any other reasons you may not wish one set of users to be visible to another set of users?
Don’t forget – a manager can be given access to other teams! For example, a regional manager will be able to have access to ‘manage’ their own team as well as the teams of those within their own region.
