How to create Curriculum
How to create Curriculum
Go to Admin/Manage Content/Curriculum
Click on + New Curriculum Button
You then need to complete the information contained within the form.
Curriculum Tile- This is the template to add the curriculum details
Version No. – Important if you want to keep track of any amendments/additions to a curriculum. For example, you could do this as V1 (Version 1). This will give you some sort of audit trail of which version, the date it was created and who by.
Tick Box – Visible in Module Content List & Open Access. If you tick this box, the curriculum will show in the Library to all content groups. If this box is left unticked, you will need to invite Learners to the Curriculum
Tick Box – Allow as Demo. This does exactly what it says, if you tick this box, it will show as a Demo curriculum.
Tick Box – Send an email when new content is released by this curriculum. If you add content to the curriculum after the first version has been issued to a Learner, when you add new contact, it will send an email to the Learner to notify them of this and will also add the curriculum back into their My Things to Do, as it is not complete because you have added new content.
Expiry Date - If you so wish, you can enter an expiry date for the curriculum i.e. if you are creating a yearly compliance curriculum. Would suggest this is left blank unless there is a particular need for this.
Keywords – These will be the Key Words to search for the Curriculum in a Library i.e. FT, Dummy, Curriculum.
Category/Sub Category - The Library category or sub-category where you want to place the curriculum.
Content Group/Super Group – Who do you want the Curriculum to be visible to?
You can choose groups who you want to give access to the curriculum via One Super Group/Select All Supergroups/Select All Groups/or just individual groups by ticking on the required group you need. If the Visible in Module Content List & Open Access is left unticked, you will need to invite your selected Learners to the Curriculum via Admin/Learners/Send Invites/Curriculum once you have created your Curriculum
Description – Brief overview of the kind of curriculum you are creating.
Experience Points - How many XP points you want to award a learner for completing the curriculum. You do not have to add these you if you do not want to.
Awards - This if you want to give an Award for completion of the curriculum.
Certification – If you want to issue a certificate on completion of a curriculum, you can do so here but the certificate is added on the Award you are giving for this and has to be added to the Award. If there is no certificate attached to an award, a certificate will not be issued regardless whether you have completed the Certificate information when creating the curriculum. You can also add the certificate validity in days if you so wish.
Status – Either on or offline
Click to finish Create New Curriculum
This will then take you to another screen where you need to add the required content (Content Options) for the completion of the certificate
Go through the list of Content and click on the piece(s) of content you want and then press “Add to Curriculum. Once you have added all your content, you will see the following information:-
This is a list of all the content you have added to the curriculum. You can change the order by dragging and dropping each individual piece of content.
You can set to hide in My Things to Do until content is released.
Invite Sent – Is automatically ticked as Invite Sent, which means content will be unlocked as soon as the Invite has been sent out.
Specific Date – You can release the Curriculum on a specific date and this will then appear in a learners my things to do (providing you have ticked the relevant content groups).
On Completion of - You can lock the content to be released on completion of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd items etc. If you want to do this, you can set the number of days you want the next piece of content to be released on, so this can either be 0 Days, and this will release content as soon as the previous piece of content has been completed. Or you can delay content by putting however many days you want to release the next piece of content i.e. if you put 10 days, the next piece of content will be released 10 days after the previous.
When you are doing this, on the first piece of content you do not select a piece of content as this relates to the completion of the previous piece of content. However, on the second piece of content, you then select the first title, so the 2nd piece of content will be released after the first piece has been completed.
Please note, you do not have to lock to order. You can just send the complete curriculum if there is no requirement to complete the content within a particular order or to drip feed content. However, you can also force the order of the course by locking the content.
If you don’t have the curriculum ticked as (Visible in Module Content List and Open Access) you will need to invite the Learner or a Group of your Learners to the curriculum via Admins/Learner/Send Invites/Curriculum.
